If you are planning to renovate your home and want to avoid tearing down the old house, you should consider a home makeover through apartment decor. Under the ground constructions and old siding are not only a sign of durability but also a smart aesthetic to modernize your apartment. It is an easy and quick way of transforming your apartment and at the same time saves lots of time and money. Moreover, it will add value to your apartment as well. Apart from the major damages and risks involved in tearing down the old house, there are many other issues that are worth considering for your apartment decor.

You should start with the wall. Most apartments have a single wall. Before tearing the whole thing down and starting with your apartment decor, consult your local building authority for the rules and regulations for buildings located below ground level. The main purpose of tearing down the structure is to expose the brick or stone underneath and create a seamless open space.

If the space that remains is not much and is mostly wooden decks and open spaces, you can replace the wooden decking with carpeting or area rugs. If the area rugs are of good quality, you can even consider adding beautiful fabric wall coverings. This will surely enhance your apartment and make it look more elegant and warm. For privacy walls can be painted or covered with curtains.

While doing up the walls, it is important to consider the type of door that will suit the apartment decor. Some doors are designed to withstand the intense weather conditions while others are for open air. If you want to have an apartment with alluring decor, choose a door with good ventilation. If you don’t want to bother about this aspect, go for those with no windows. A sliding door will offer maximum protection as far as insulation is concerned and will make your apartment look very stylish and contemporary.

When it comes to carpets and rugs, you should be careful as there are many colors and designs in the market. Before you buy an underground rug, try to learn a bit about the material used for it. You must know whether it’s made of wool, synthetic or cotton. All these materials will definitely add to your decor but some are better than others.

For example, if you live in a place that experiences cold climate, then you should opt for a thick wall to wall carpets. They will keep the warmth within the apartment and at the same time shield the floor from the scorching heat. On the other hand, if you prefer tropical climate, then you should purchase light rugs that will give you a comfortable feeling even if the temperature rises a few degrees. They can go well with the other decorations in the apartment such as the paintings, carpets, furniture and floor rugs.

The best part about decorating an apartment in such a manner is that you will be able to save a lot of money on electricity bills. When you have floors that are completely covered with carpet, you won’t need to put up any sort of heating system in order to make the apartment comfortable during cold weather. This is a great way to use apartment decor ideas and bring about a positive change in the apartment.

Apart from floor rugs, you can also consider hanging baskets on the walls. These are good because they add to the overall ambiance and make the place look elegant and beautiful. You can also choose to display antique items such as China, picture frames, mirrors and so on. By simply changing the accessories in your apartment, you will immediately be able to change the apartment’s decor.
